Last week, I was delighted to share that we are embarking on an exciting new journey with Ava Community Energy to drive the future of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Northern California. This collaboration signifies a major milestone in our mission towards energy sustainability and accessibility. 

We have committed to managing 86 public direct-current fast-chargers across 11 sites, enhancing the EV charging experience for residents and fostering the growth of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). This network will be powered by Ava’s Renewable 100 service, ensuring a zero-carbon intensity transportation fuel, certified by the California Air Resource Board.

Our approach is innovative: leveraging an energy tolling agreement structure, akin to power purchase agreements typically used for renewables. This financial model will expedite the deployment of these crucial charging stations, aligning with California’s decarbonized transportation goals.

The hubs will be strategically located in municipal parking areas near multifamily residences and local businesses, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all, particularly the underserved communities. Our partnership with Ava is a testament to our shared vision of a decarbonized future.

The charging network is expected to be operational by 2025. This initiative is more than an investment in infrastructure—it’s a commitment to the community and the environment. Together with Ava, we are not just discussing a greener future; we are building it.
